One of the hardest things to do with blogging is finding out what you want to write about and coming up with a good name for your blog. I think this takes people a lot of time to figure out because once you pick a topic and a domain name for your blog, you can’t really change your topic and changing the name may cause problems because you have redirect you domain name to something else.
So once you pick something, it’s hard work to change it but before you pick something, you need to find out what you want to write about. I have had many blogs in the past and I let them go because I didn’t like what I was talking about and I didn’t really like the topic so overtime I didn’t like what I was writing. So in the post, I will go over some tips for you on how to start a personal blog with a good name?
Pick a topic to write about but don’t box yourself in:
You should always pick a topic that you know a lot about and you can see yourself writing about that topic everyone. Whatever that thing is, go for that but the key here is to not box yourself in. so lets say you want to start a blog about fishing but you just like catching catfish only.
That will limit you on what you can write about. Instead of only catfish how about all fish and the tools you use to go fishing with. To go even deeper, how about a hurting blog so you can talk about fishing as well. For another example lets say you want to write about hanging drywall.
Well there only so many ways to hand drywall and there are so many tools you can promote for hanging drywall so overtime you may run out of things to write about. How about home improvement blog so you can cover the whole house. So the goal here is to not box yourself in one topic because and I have went though this myself, you may run out if things to write about.
Pick a domain name that is short and easy to remember:
Getting a domain is not hard this days. I use https://www.bluehost.com/ which is my hosting company for my blog and please not that you need a hosting plan in order to start blogging. You can use https://www.godaddy.com/ to my domain names as well but the key for picking a good domain name is to get something that is easy to remember, something that is short and something that tells the reader what you blog is about. You don’t want a blog about fishing and the domain name is called howtofixoil.com. That will not work.
Once your blog is set up with your domain name, I would just write content and stick with a schedule.
