In today’s sports world where things happen to the players is on an everyday cycle. Meaning everyday there is something new n sports to talk or write about. There is so much content on sports that you can have your own show. Blogging about sports in my opinion is very different and depending on what you write about will tell if your content will get traffic. Now I am not saying that you should not blog about sports, I am saying is that it’s going to be hard.
Player gets traded in the middle of the night and by that afternoon the whole world knows what happen. Most sport shows cover what happened the night before and they talked about what’s going to happen in the next game. I think we can agreed that writing about what’s going on in sports would be a hard thing to do. This big time TV shows, big time writers and sports insiders will have the edge over you cause will they are in the locker rooms talking to players. With that being said, I would blog in a different way, now I don’t blog about sports, I am going to answer the question if someone would to ask how to blog about sports and make money from that. So this is what I would do.
Do something different:
The very first thing I would do is look at what you what to write about. I like football and basketball so let’s talk about that. Instead of writing about one topic that will change the next day for example write a blog post about who won the game last night, I would right a post about something that is getting a lot of attention right now and what are the sport talk shows are talking about. Right now while I am writing this post, in the NBA there big time about load management for NBA players don’t play back to back games.
There are a lot of opinions about it so you can write a post about that giving your 2 cents. The problem is that news change so fast so that post may not get readers so there are others things that you need to do and I will talk about that later in this post. Pick topic that you think will be in the news for a while. If a superstar player gets hurt and is out for serval weeks write a blog post on how the team will be if that player is not there.
I would write 3 post per week or more to stay on the radar of people. I would build a brand around the blog. See it’s all about letting people know what you are about and what are you writing about. I think you should get a logo made, post on social media, have a podcast about your topic that you are writing about, you should have a YouTube channel about sports and I sport IG. If you want to be big time in sports than you may need to go to the games and record yourself at the games, hell even try to meet some of the players. Check out that YouTube channel that I follow: https://www.youtube.com/user/RBTheBreakThrough and I like his channel and he talks about the news in the NBA.
If I was him I would take that YouTube video and turn the content into a blog post with the inside the post. Next I would produce a YouTube video and do a podcast at the same time so I would be doing a podcast while filming a video. The point is to get as much content all at one time. People these days are doing a podcast while filming it at the same time. Pretty much all the sport talk shows are on YouTube showing clips of the show. So blogging won’t be enough to make money from. It can happen but I feel that you need to be on YouTube and have a podcast so you can take that traffic to your blog.
Now how to make the money?
Once you get traffic to the blog, one of the first thing you should be doing is getting the people who comes to the blog email addresses. I use Aweber to collect and store emails for me and if you want to get your free trial you can click here:
Getting the email is very important, not only you can email them affiliate offers like sports clothes, deal on game tickets, you can promote your podcast, your YouTube video and your own product if you have one. I am not sure what products you can promote as an affiliate dealing with sports. Maybe you can promote some things on amazon or sell ad space on your site or get traffic to your YouTube channel for the ad money.
Building a Hugh following will bring big companies to pay you for ad on your blog, YouTube channel and Podcast. The money will come as long as you keep putting out good content. Have other ways of putting out content, the money will come. If you can get the traffic, you can make the money so I would sign up with clickbank which will have sports related products to promote, amazon and Walmart and find things to is related to your topic and promote those things. From the start I would not worry about making money, that part is easy. I would worry about getting the traffic cause once you have the traffic, you will make the money so I post 3 times per week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday on how to make money online. Check my blog post and use that info with your blog and YouTube channel or Podcast.
